Drake sampled this song for "Jungle" and I always wished I could just hear it on repeat and turns out that exists! Can't wait for you guys to hear the new music and see this vid. Thank you for being a patron, especially now that net neutrality is failing. Who knows what will happen but lets not forget about each other

here's my current play list for dancing around the house: https://open.spotify.com/user/12129313040/playlist/0PlY2wb417cAvchzVGbcAA

the music video is on it's way, it's the highest production value i've ever gone for and I want to take my take to make it as good as it can be

see you in 2018

hope you start it off right

Califia Farms Head Quarters
Califia Farms Head Quarters

I played a show in LA last night, somewhere in between a living room show and club show. It was in the front room of an office building which sounds like a terrible vibe but they gave me twinkly lights and made pillows shaped like their bottles and people sat on fake grass. The only thing that was amplified was my voice.

As always, with living room shows, we laughed and cried about the hilariously bad decisions we make. We talked about changes I've gone through and I gave some advice while also acknowledging that my life is not "fixed" now that I've moved to LA and have gotten a little healthier. My realest advice is listen to yourself. You know what you need if you let yourself want it. You don't even have to say it out loud, just allow yourself to acknowledge what you want.

I think the reason I get so emotional at shows it because I come face to face with a bunch of humans and see just how many people grapple with the same desire to be happy while not totally knowing what will do that long term.

I want to feel good in my body, strong and comfortable in my own skin. I want to laugh with my friends and trust my community. I want clean water, nutritious food, and a home that has what I need/is cute. I want sex that feels amazing and music to which I can dance, cry, and chill. I want to share my music with people. I want to feel connected to people. I want people to like each other.

I think everyone deserves all those things. You do. I think I do. I'm working on it.

The first song to be recorded for the next record is kind of about that I guess. How I've always felt in competition with people, scrutinized by some weird negative force, maybe society? When really, we could all be working together to make life good, and have fun.  Joanna Katcher (the producer of Some Feelings) and I started recording on Friday and I ~*THINK*~ I can show it to you by Tuesday before this all ends. It's called "It's Easy"

I'll be streaming live on kickstarter on the last day in the final hours.

Tuesday at 4pm PST || Line up your questions early!

Yesterday We hit $60k which is DOUBLE THE GOAL. Anything above this means I'm going to be able to make music videos and promote the shit out of the record.

Only 3 more days!!!! Thank you so so much for crushing this with me, I think the music sounds really cool and I can't wait to show you and spill more of my squishy emotional guts out on the internet.

Thanks for listening

I love you

-Julia

ps. here's another live vid of me playing "Boys Who Follow Me." It's from the show at Califia last night and some people were singing harmonies so i KNOW there were some kickstarter backers there
